fall/winter 2015…

Happy New Year! Hopefully 2016 finds you ready and hopeful for lots of awesome opportunities and adventures. As for me, this is the year I vow to focus more on my art as a business – and to me, that includes blogging on a consistent basis. Hopefully you’ll find this an interesting and inspiring space to be!

For my first blog post of 2016, I wanted to share some photos and events from October through December of 2015…

In October, Lawrence and I went to Rio de Ojas in the beautiful city of Claremont, CA, to see one of our favorite artists (and friend) Anna Alvarado. I was beyond pleased to purchase my first Anna Alvarado original painting! I highly recommend you check out Anna and her art: she uses Sharpies to create gorgeous, colorful and vibrant pieces, full of emotion and beautiful energy.

The years of 2013-2015 were very challenging for Lawrence and me, which led me to (I feel) neglect my art and the business we are trying to build. So I was extremely grateful for those customers who purchased my work from my Etsy art shop, and our art pieces from our website at Arte de Nuestro Corazon.

I love creating new ornaments for the holiday season! I purposely make pieces that work year-round, and can decorate any space through any season.

This year I made these pretty denim hearts, using recycled fabric, vintage lace, and brightly colored alphabet beads and buttons. I also made mini nicho ornaments, decorated with Loteria images, beads, milagros, and other fun embellishments.

Lawrence and I have not sold at any events in over two years! So when the opportunity came to us to participate in Fairweather LA’s Holiday Pop-Up sale at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, we quickly said yes. It was good to get out there again! Sales were not huge (people seemed more interested in the live bands and the craft brew) but we met some very cool artist vendors and got into selling mode again. It was a great experience and we look forward to more events…

I hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing holiday season. I’ll end with one of my favorite images: my mom and dad’s beautiful Nativity set. I look forward to seeing this every year…❤️
