A few days into 2015 and I find myself hit with a nasty cold…so while I sit here sniffling, sneezing, coughing, and rubbing my watery eyes, I thought I’d share a few photos of what’s been going on around here…

Olvera Street’s Muerto Artwalk…

This past Saturday, Lawrence and I went to Olvera Street’s first ever Muerto Artwalk. We took the Gold Line, which gave me the opportunity to see beautiful Union Station in downtown Los Angeles again…

We had a really good time! Got to see our artist friends, met artists I only knew through social media, and did quite a bit of shopping. I had been contacted about participating as a vendor, but we decided we couldn’t commit to any shows with my mother-in-law in and out of the hospital at the time. I’m hoping next year we’ll get the chance again!

happy birthday Frida!

my first ever Frida-inspired art piece

my first ever Frida-inspired art piece

today Frida Kahlo would have celebrated her 107th birthday. although she passed away in 1954, she continues to be a huge source of artistic inspiration to many.

i love Frida’s art work. she portrayed beauty alongside tragedy, joy alongside sadness, and her pieces are full of raw emotion you can’t help but also feel if you really look at her work.

above is my newest art piece, simply titled “Frida”. it is my first ever Frida-inspired piece – but i really enjoyed making it so it definitely won’t be my last!
