I love art journaling. I’ve always done it, even before the term “art journaling” became so common in art circles on social media. I love to have notebooks at the ready for drawing, painting, writing, dreaming…I’ve done this as long as I can remember.
Of course, now there’s SO much inspiration for art journaling! I have a few artists I follow whose art journals look like beautiful pieces of original art I’d love to have on my walls ( Julie Balzer and Alisa Burke are my two favorites!).
I’ve been on a major drawing marathon, but I try to find time to art journal as often as I can. Here are my latest (unfinished) pages – my first art journaling pages for 2016…
I started with a mask I made of a female figure, tracing it with a white gel pen…
one of my favorite tools: my Signo white ink pen!
colored pencils add lots of dimension and texture…
I started with a dark background, but it didn’t stay that way…
adding a bright green with cosmetic sponge was first step to brightening things up…
my fingers are another favorite tool when painting…
turquoise, purple, and green lightened up the background…
white ink added fun dimension to green dots…
