first painted pages of 2017…

Happy 2017! So – it’s already January 6th. How’s your new year treating you so far?

I painted yesterday for the first time this year! Well, I have been drawing and writing down ideas for new work, but finally getting paint on my hands (and my clothes…and maybe even our black dresser…oops!) felt awesome. I’m really loving how these pages came out!

I worked in this Strathmore 300 Series Mixed Media Wire Bound,11″ x 14″ pad – it’s perfect for painting, collage, gelli-printing , etc. – since it takes dry and wet media. And the size is a generous 11 by 14 inches!

I love this pad – it takes wet & dry media, and is a nice big size…

my starting point – random swipes of beautiful color…

I LOVE these Liquitex acrylic paints! The colors are rich and luscious, and they have a great body and thickness.

really love how these pages turned out!

I’m really happy with how these pages turned out, which kinda surprises me. I started and completed them yesterday – all in one day – which isn’t like me. I tend to paint over areas a lot (I’m really picky!) and usually take a while to complete artwork, but these pages just sort of flowed naturally and easily. I feel like they are a reminder to myself: don’t wait. The time to do things – ANY things – is NOW.

‘Til next time…
