Prince passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2016.
A true artist, musical genius, and unrivaled talent. He recorded most of his music on his own, played every instrument, sang every vocal.
He was truly gifted, and a gift to a world filled with individuals who are famous for no talents, no gifts – nothing that adds beauty or value to the world.
I was so sad to hear Prince was gone. I remembered so many times that – no matter what was happening in my life – I could hear a Prince song and immediately find myself singing along, feeling suddenly upbeat, wild, and carefree…
That was Prince. Beautiful. Wild. Upbeat. Free.
The urge to paint came over me, so I pulled out my art journal.
And of course – my purple paint…

I recycled an old page in my art journal…

it felt appropriate to add some gold…

love how the colors layered up…

“dearly beloved…”

I consider these pages not finished yet…

I’ve had this girl’s image in my collage box for YEARS – don’t know where I got it, but I thought she fit in perfectly!

the party continues…

“you can always see the sun…”
I’m not sure what I’ll add to these pages, but I do know I want more…just MORE. It is Prince, after all, who inspired these pages. More color? More shimmer? More light? Just…more…
Rest in peace, sweet Prince.
‘Til next time…
