a few journal pages…

As I wrote before, my mother-in-law is in the hospital. Today is day 12 of Lawrence and I spending our days (and some nights) at Kaiser Permanente with her. I started bringing my sketchbook with me recently, along with some … Continue reading

rough times…

Life has thrown us another curve, and I’ve had to put my Etsy shops in vacation mode for a while. My 85 year old mother-in-law fell last Friday (January 23) and she broke her hip. She had surgery on Sunday and, unfortunately, it led to several complications to her already bad health. I’m spending my days with my husband Lawrence at the hospital.

Any positive vibes you can send would be greatly appreciated.

last art journaling pages of 2014…

I wanted to share my last art journal pages for 2014. I stated in an earlier blog post that I’ve art journaled even before the term ‘art journaling’ started being used…writing and drawing in notebooks has always been an outlet for me. I’ve always journaled – I think of them as visual diaries. Again, today the term most often used is art journaling…

I’ve been journaling more often recently, and it’s really helped me in several ways: by writing out thoughts on paper, it makes me focus on what I need to do. I’m also writing out my ideas and plans for my art business, which is what I really want to focus on in the new year…

So here are the last pages I created for 2014 – and I can’t wait to create my first pages for 2015!

my 30 paintings in 30 days…

if you’ve read my previous posts, you know I took part in a ’30 paintings in 30 days’ challenge in the artists’ group HeARTspace on Facebook (created by artist Jeanne Bessette). the challenge ended yesterday and I’m proud to say I completed the whole challenge!

I won’t lie – sometimes I didn’t post one photo each day. with both my mom feeling under the weather (again), then my mother in law being hospitalized (again), my mind was often occupied with other things and I couldn’t get myself to finish artwork in front of me. but I played catch up, staying up late when needed. one day I posted four (or five?) paintings all in the same day in order to catch up!

here are all 30 pieces. I still consider a couple of them to be unfinished, but the purpose of this challenge was (I think) to dig deep into our creative selves, paint consistently and purposefully, and see what we learn about ourselves in the process.

I’m still marinading over what I learned about myself, my work, and where I want to go with it. (another blog post for sure!)…in the meantime, here are group shots of all the pieces. Look for much better individual photos to come, as well as most of these new pieces being available for purchase! 😉
